CD Lamp
The pile of CDs that had been massing in my room was growing to epic proportions. So I decided to make myself a CD lamp. The circular base was actually cut using a template on a table saw, then sanded after clamping it in a drill press. The cold cathode lamp is from NewEgg. The one I bought isn’t available any more. (Good reason too, because it had a very non-functional ‘beat’ setting for music). Check out Chad’s CD lamp on flickr here. There are several other designs online, but this is one of the better ones that I have found.
I don’t have any pictures of assembly other than the one above. Quite a mess.
Power Supply Dongle. Since the lamp was designed to work of a ATX power supply, I decided to use an external power connector on my Antec P180 case. The grey wire leads to the lamp, and is an old mouse cable (recycle!).
Custom faceplate
Bottom with Plexiglas cover. The inverter makes for a tight fit.
